Today’s guest is Mick Baccio, a security advisor at Splunk. 

Mick’s career spans the globe. He got his start as an information warfare specialist for the Navy. After retiring from the military, he began applying his knowledge of infosec in the private world, including working with companies like Lockheed Martin. 

From there, Mick went back to the public sector and helped protect information and data at places like the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the FDA, and at the Executive Office of the President. Mick also became the first-ever CISO on a Presidential campaign. 

In today’s episode, Chad and Mick talk about what Mick learned from his extensive global experiences in the public and private sectors. They also discuss how he navigated through those to find his new role as a security advisor at Splunk, plus jumping-off points for those interested in following a similar career path.
