Marissa Limsiaco has always been very family-oriented, which is part of the reason she attended West Point and commissioned into the Army. She served for four years, working her way up to Aviation Support Battalion Commander. Having fulfilled her goal of becoming a commander, Marissa eventually decided to leave the Army and take the next step in her career. 

“Just like other veterans who’ve gotten out, it was that journey of exploring not only what you want to do, but what is there to do,” Marissa says.

Marissa decided to go back to school and obtain her MBA and got into the world of entrepreneurship quickly. But it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. She struggled in her first two forays as a co-founder, even reaching a point when she had to sell her car in order to pay her employees. When she left her second company, she believed she’d never return to being an entrepreneur. 

But eventually, that world found her. A friend came to her with a problem in the commercial real estate business for which there was no solution. They decided to build one together. 

With the help of friends and family investing her, she was able to kick start a commercial real estate platform, called Tenavox.
