How does our evolutionary makeup influence our modern-day habits? How is A.I. changing our healthcare system? What can we do to create a better tomorrow? All these questions (and more) will be answered in this week’s theme; Past, Present, and Future.

In today’s episode, Chad and Stephanie give a preview of our guest lineup for this week and share some thoughts to keep in mind as we spend the next five days diving into the history and future of humankind.

Show Notes

[1:00] Our First Guest: Geoffrey Miller

“I don’t really aspire to hold beliefs on topics. I believe that, typically, when you have a belief, it can calcify into something way too strong and then you can’t let go when you get new information.”

  • Geoffrey Miller is an evolutionary psychologist. He will join us on Tuesday to discuss how biological predispositions and natural adaptations guide everyday decisions and consumer preferences.
  • Geoffrey’s work challenged Chad to rethink his beliefs.
  • Connect with Geoffrey on his Website or on Twitter.

[3:40] Our Second Guest: Diana Fleischman

  • Diana Fleischman is also an evolutionary psychologist. She’ll join us Wednesday for another discussion of how our biology influences behavior.
  • Learn more about her work: Website, Twitter.

[4:30] Our Third Guest: Dr. Eric Topol

  • Dr. Topol will discuss the present state of healthcare and what’s in store for the future. Specifically, he shares how AI is changing the healthcare scene.
  • He is the author of Deep Medicine and you can also find him on Twitter.

[6:30] Our Fourth Guest: A.G. (Gerry) Riddle

  • Gerry is a self-published sci-fi writer. He is author of Winter World and will be on Mission Daily this Friday to discuss his work, how he thinks about the future, and potential otherworldly threats.
  • Find him on Twitter or check out his website.

[8:45] The Dark Forest Problem

  • The Dark Forest Theory concludes that since we live in such a hellish universe, the last thing we want to do is expose our location. We don’t ever want to be the ones to make first contact.
  • We’ll cover this theory in more detail on Friday, but if you want to dive in earlier, learn more here.

This week is dedicated to learning from the good, the bad, the terrifying, and the exceptional so that we can create a better future. If you have any stake in what the future holds (spoiler alert: we all do!), then you won’t want to miss this week’s mind-boggling interviews. Stay tuned!
