Immediately after college, Mike wanted to challenge himself so he decided to join the Marine Corps. After deploying to both Afghanistan and Iraq, Mike left the Marines with new knowledge and a passion for helping people.
After entering the corporate world and learning his love of working with the consumer, Mike had the idea of opening a CrossFit gym.
“My decision to start a Crossfit gym could probably fall under the classic reason an entrepreneur starts a business which is, a gap or pain point and finding a better way,” Mike says. “I was a regular person working in a cube and I was trying to get into good shape.”
One gym turned into four, but eventually, Mike reached a plateau. At the peak of his success, he had noticed there was an opportunity to try a new kind of fitness program, which he iterated on while trying to find a way to make it into something that could stand on its own. In the end, he and his co-founders did just that, and they called their boutique gym Alchemy 365.
On this episode of Find Your Mission, Mike Jones tells his story of going from Marine to CEO, and how you can focus your energy on what you can be the best at and not get distracted along the way.
